Crawley boss proud to scoop award

Steve Evans Evans led Crawley into the Football League for the first time in their historyCrawley manager Steve Evans says he is proud to win the League Two Manager of the Month award for October.

The Reds went unbeaten last month, winning five of their six games, and sit second in the table.

Evans told BBC Sussex: "I'm very proud and I think it's recognition to everyone at the club.

"But it's a nice honour to achieve but I'd much rather be getting it at the end of the season for recognition of maybe being promoted."

He added: "We were confident our players could step up from the Conference successfully and acclimatise.

"It's amazing what hard work does and it's no secret that the harder you work, the luckier you become."

"You get criticism from every quarter when it's not going right so I'm delighted we've finished October top of the pile ahead of some big, big clubs compared to ourselves."
